Re: Official Music Thread
I've probably posted these before, but who cares, they
"'cause you start out stealing songs, then you're robbing liquor stores, and selling crack, and running over school kids with your car!"
That last parody he actually didn't release on disc because the original artist gave him permission then took it back after he recorded it or something silly like that. So he released it for free online instead along with the don't download this song one.

Re: Official Music Thread
Man that's such a good song. I remember they had it playing when I went to an airshow to see the Blue Angels.
Speaking of Lenny Kravitz, I started clicking through some of his youtube videos just listening to various songs, until I came upon a shining example of the hilarity of copyright takedown notices on youtube and the idiots behind them with their misguided belief that they can control the internet.
That's the official Lenny Kravitz youtube account right there, btw. Great job guys, censoring yourself.
Hey, I have an idea, let's censor all the songs everywhere until people can't even listen to your artists' music anymore. That'll surely show us a thing or two. Consider us schooled.

Re: Official Music Thread
Here's another classic cover of the song American Woman by the Guess Who.
But wow, that is just...ridiculous. The fact that they would censor like that shows just how retarded they can be sometimes.
Re: Official Music Thread
I've seen Warner and EMI takedown notices on youtube videos that were songs released by independent artists on their on record label, distributed by themselves, with their own(well, art paid for by them) album label for the visual part of the video. Silly and frustrating.

Best. Band. Ever.
Then, of course, there was this awesome song!

Re: Official Music Thread
I remember watching Doug a little, but I never really got into it. But my memory is really bad about cartoons I watched when I was younger. My friends rip on me all the time because I can't remember anything from that age.
For instance, just the other day, we were talking about the show Pokemon, and I thought the main character's name was Aston. I also thought that Brock was blind because he had lines for eyes.
And I couldn't recall many other things either. Case in point, my memory is shit (well, from my youth at least )

Just saw Astronautalis and WHY? live last night. Astronautalis is pretty amazing live, and the freestyle thing he does is stunning.

A very interesting read on Autotune, even if you just skim it (I skimmed through about half and actually read the other half). I honestly had no idea that basically every modern artist autotunes the crap out of their stuff to get perfect pitch, even if they don't need it.

Re: Official Music Thread
But the diss isn’t fair, because everybody’s using it.
You can even use Auto-Tune live
Indeed, finding out that all the singers we listen to have been Auto-Tuned does feel like someone’s messing with us.
Some troubling signs point to ‘yes.’
The Auto-Tune or not Auto-Tune debate always seems to turn into a moralistic one
please stop hurting me
i liked what t-pain had to say more than what the author had to say

Re: Official Music Thread
That's a very interesting article, I agree that Auto-Tune is abused quite excessively nowadays. I really enjoy listening to a lot of the older songs because of the raw energy and pure music experience I get out of them. Music is more than just hitting euphonic notes that just "sound good." But as much I hope artists come to their senses, it most likely will not happen because auto-tune exists, everyone uses it, and it's not going anywhere.
Re: Official Music Thread
They tend to overproduce albums these days. And compress the songs to shit so they just end way too loud and sound like noise basically lol. You can really notice it on heavy metal/rock albums.
