Re: Official Music Thread
I remember before shockwave. Before ads. Before all that crap cluttering up the internet, back when you wanted to download something you would just click the big green download button on the page without thinking twice about whether or not it was an ad or spyware or something nasty.
I'm pretty sure the current 3D tech will evolve into something else in time. Right now it's just a gimmick and people are catching on. Gimmicky 3D movies already are mostly a thing of the past. Now they have to integrate the 3D to make it seem more natural. Eventually I think it will be further integrated to the point where it's no longer a gimmick, it just is the next evolution of display technology.

Re: Official Music Thread
Just listened to this for the first time...since when did Green Day release a new single lol? And what happened to them? They used to be so kickass, but I'm not digging this new song. Apparently they also have some 3D thing goin' on according to the description. I hate the "far away" part So contrived...and disappointing.
They used to be one of my favorite bands. They still are, but not this.

Re: Official Music Thread
I heard a preview of the iUno album and it sounded awesome. Then I listened to that and I was like wtf? This can't be from the same album lol.

Hopefully anyway. We won't know for sure until it comes out. You know about the whole 3 album release right?

Re: Official Music Thread
No, I didn't! That seems intriguing. I just hope that they focused on quality over quantity, and that all the songs aren't just rehashed pop rock tunes like the one to which I linked. I have all of their albums so far, and my favorites are definitely Dookie, International Superhits, and American Idiot. Those are the ones I really enjoyed when I was a teenager. My friends and I used to crowd around my old stereo system and listen to the songs and stuff. Even International Superhits, as a greatest hits album, was just an awesome summation of their best stuff, and I have a pretty nostalgic connection to American Idiot. In fact, I think I'm going to listen to it tonight...haha.
21st Century Breakdown was pretty cool, having some good songs, but you just can't mess with their older stuff! Every song in IS and AI kicked ass!
The thing about bands releasing albums like this is that they often include fillers. The Red Hot Chili Peppers had that Stadium Arcadium album which was sorta like this with two sides, and nobody really even knows half the songs, while everyone knows every song from Californication and Blood Sugar Sex Magik. We'll see, though.

Re: Official Music Thread
I was hoping they'd do something more American Idiot-esque...loved that album. It's better than the Oh Love song, I suppose, but it just doesn't compare imo. It's just too much like Dance music. I know there's nothing wrong with that, but I just feel like they were much better back in the day.
edit:
Just googled to see if anything else from that album was out, and I found this. I'm liking this a bit more because it resembles their older stuff. It's a bit of a filler, but not bad nonetheless.

I don't know how I feel about dubstep, but this guy's moves are off the hook:

Swag skillz
Been listening to Weird Al songs quite a bit on Spotify lately. Shit's the bomb.

Re: Official Music Thread
I've probably posted these before, but who cares, they
"'cause you start out stealing songs, then you're robbing liquor stores, and selling crack, and running over school kids with your car!"
That last parody he actually didn't release on disc because the original artist gave him permission then took it back after he recorded it or something silly like that. So he released it for free online instead along with the don't download this song one.

Re: Official Music Thread
Man that's such a good song. I remember they had it playing when I went to an airshow to see the Blue Angels.
Speaking of Lenny Kravitz, I started clicking through some of his youtube videos just listening to various songs, until I came upon a shining example of the hilarity of copyright takedown notices on youtube and the idiots behind them with their misguided belief that they can control the internet.
That's the official Lenny Kravitz youtube account right there, btw. Great job guys, censoring yourself.
Hey, I have an idea, let's censor all the songs everywhere until people can't even listen to your artists' music anymore. That'll surely show us a thing or two. Consider us schooled.

Re: Official Music Thread
Here's another classic cover of the song American Woman by the Guess Who.
But wow, that is just...ridiculous. The fact that they would censor like that shows just how retarded they can be sometimes.
Re: Official Music Thread
I've seen Warner and EMI takedown notices on youtube videos that were songs released by independent artists on their on record label, distributed by themselves, with their own(well, art paid for by them) album label for the visual part of the video. Silly and frustrating.

Man, the Killer Tofu Tour of '95 was so sick. I was there.
Best. Band. Ever.
Then, of course, there was this awesome song!
