Good old Mad Max. I remember seeing those original movies as a kid on TV... Absolute classics. There was even this Nintendo game a friend had. I wonder if they're going to make a new game because of this movie now?
Just check out these graphics man, state of the art!

Re: Official Movie Thread
Yea there is gonna be a Mad Max game released later this year but I don't think it's based on the new movie.
Reading a bit about it and it actually sounds like it will be a decent game. Might be something similar to Borderlands or Fallout. They say it's set in an open world and you can switch between 3rd and 1st person camera for combat. There's also vehicle combat. Have to keep an eye out.

Re: Official Movie Thread
But will the graphics be as awesome as that one? Can they even be? Is it even possible?
Re: Official Movie Thread
So the force has awakened... Has anyone seen it yet? Or when do you plan on wacthing it? Hopefully I'll get to watch it over the Christmas. I've seen a few small clips but I don't want to know anything about the story or characters until I've seen it for myself.

Re: Official Movie Thread
- Spoiler:
Yes it did. JJ Abrams just replicated 4-5-6 plot line and destroyed another death star with subpar characters.
4-5-6 was never as good as Heir to Empire and now disney owns the rights to EU, and taken them all out of print in favor of JJ Abrams cash cow.
edit by Ice: I put this in spoilers because, well, it contains spoilers.
Also, if you write any more spoilers I will ban your ass. You're lucky I literally just saw the movie, otherwise I'd ban you in a heartbeat.

I agree with Bliv, it was a great movie! I'm looking forward to the rest. Let's not write any spoilers for the time being for those who haven't seen it, or at least just put them in spoilers tags.

Re: Official Movie Thread
Yea I didn't want to post up any spoilers cause not everyone will have seen it yet. We could just pm the people who have seen it if we want to chat or whatever.

Re: Official Movie Thread
Spoiler tags will work fine for any plot points just in case.
I just got to see it over the holiday. I can see why some people might have issues with it, but I'm going to completely disagree with Acro here and say that the characters were and are going to be great. I've said this to others but it feels very much like the first chapter of a book, meant to draw you in and make you want to keep going. The next couple movies in the trilogy will undoubtedly have all the meat and potatoes of character development and storyline, and I'm really liking the potential these characters have. So much so that I'm willing to overlook some of the other plot points that most people seem to hate.

Re: Official Movie Thread
I agree with you wonks, first chapter of a book and all.
Naturally I still don't think it holds a candle to the original films. It was a good film and I'm glad it wasn't as bad as the prequels.

I'm one of the few that liked the prequels but you're right Shinj, I don't think anything will beat the original trilogy.
Watched a few other films recently too. First was The Hateful Eight. I like most of Tarantino's films and this one wasn't too bad either. As usual there was great attention to detail and interesting characters. But some of the conversations really dragged out. And it kinda sucked that the majority of the film took place in a cabin lol.
The other film was The Martian. At first I thought it was gonna be one of those slow paced kinda films but it wasn't. I ended up enjoying it more than I thought I would. They made it kinda believable. Obviously we can't fly to Mars yet but it may happen someday.

- Spoiler:
- And there are no aliens in this film. Just a botanist trying to survive on his own until a team can come rescue him

Re: Official Movie Thread
After a couple weeks of reflection on the movie, I am increasingly worried that
Oh I haven't seen the Martian yet, I almost forgot about that one. I think it's out on disc soon, thanks for the reminder.
- Spoiler:
- they're going to directly copy the plots of Empire and Return in the next movies, the way many aspects of the prequels mirrored the original trilogy. The problem is, the prequels and the original trilogy were written together as one story way before episode IV was even released. It was thematically meant to be that way. This is a new trilogy and copying those plot points without treating the rest of the themes appropriately seems like it would cheapen it in my opinion.

Re: Official Movie Thread
Lol! Totally. We must go to ludicrous speed at once.
I don't think The Hateful Eight did that well in theaters as other Tarantino movies. I was really excited about it, but I would rather rewatch SW or see another movie if I were to go to the theaters now. I am actually a big Tarentino fan, but I like the ones with action / fast-moving plot in a variety of locations the best. Guns are nice, but even Jackie Brown, which is all drama, is actually a really good movie.
Once I saw that The hateful Eight didn't do so well commercially, I figured it'd be something like the first half of Death Proof: one long conversation that ends in someone killing someone else, and then moving on to some entirely different scene. One of his most famous movies, Reservior Dogs, is also one of my least favorite (besides the torture scene below) because it's takes place almost entirely in the same location.

Oh man, I'm so glad they're keeping the same actor for that one; he's perfect for it. I had to stop watching the trailer about half a minute in because I didn't want all the snark to be spoiled. That'll be a great movie.
Speaking of spoiling things... (Force Awakens spoiler)

Yea I seen an interview with Ryan Reynolds and he said he'd been trying to get the Deadpool movie made for 11 years. In the end it was the fans that made it happen lol.

Re: Official Movie Thread
So Batman v Superman has been getting mixed reviews. But DC fans seem to love it. Haven't seen it yet myself but probably will go see it during the week.
Have you guys seen the latest trailer for Captain America: Civil War?

Re: Official Movie Thread
I wasn't going to, but someone ruined a certain spoiler on Facebook, so I ended up having to see it.
I've heard mixed reviews about the new Batman vs. Superman movie. Some people don't like it, others like it. I don't know of anyone who LOVED it like people loved The Dark Knight. It's interesting that people are talking more about this as more of a Batman movie. My friend who saw it told me he would buy it on DVD because he wants to add it to his Batman series (the other 3 Batman movies). If anything, based on the trailer, it's the background of a potential Man of Steel sequel. Yet everyone describes it in terms of Batman.
- Spoiler:
- they need to stop changing actors for superhero movies...nothing was wrong with the other guy playing Spider-Man...

Re: Official Movie Thread
I've also heard it's not worth seeing, which is mostly what I was expecting. I haven't seen it yet but it looked like they're trying to do too much in one movie to catch up to Marvel. DC's TV series have also taken a turn for the worst lately and aren't really worth watching anymore either.
Marvel's Netflix runs on the other hand are awesome and are exactly the right way to do this stuff if you ask me. And it's looking like they're going to keep expanding in the future.

- Spoiler:
- BvS is supposed to set up the Justice League movie. People are gonna compare it to Marvel and The Avengers. But the DC universe has darker characters and stories. I suppose it's for a more mature audience.
And yea Spidey, I guess everyone has their own vision for him. This Spidey looks a lot like the one from the older comics. The actors are getting younger each time too heh.
