Re: Wonko's World: The Map
When I think of what a map would look like for Wonko's World, I imagine some sort of cross-breed among the first level from super mario 64, which was in the SD map pack (which Kai so brilliantly worked on), the setting of Alice in Wonderland, and some wacko carnival where all the employees are acid-trippin'. Basically, I feel like there should be extravagant coloring that completely ridiculous, yet not the main theme of the overall map.
I don't know...I also feel like this'd be best if it were large and ornate. I'll try to think of stuff and post it here to the best of my abilities.

Re: Wonko's World: The Map
There will be a way to go out and swim with the fishies right? As either recreation or punishment? Perhaps that's one of the destinations for one of the secrets. Drop down a tube, hatch opens, SPLASH! Mommy mommy, look at that fishy!! The beginning of that secret would be somewhere in a completely different section of the map, I'm visualizing a room up topside somewhere. Maybe nested secrets even. Secrets within secrets. There could be a secret mario tube behind some secret seaweed you have to push away in the secret water that leads to another secret!
See what I mean about secrets re-using existing areas of the map? Maybe you should take another look at every room in the map and see if there's some secret hidden area above or below it that people might want to explore that you'd get to by following some ridiculously obscure and complicated labyrinth of nested secrets. Personally, I like attics and basements. For any area that is industrial looking with starship type stuff or metals walls and such there can be secret power conduit channels and air vents above and below the walkway, and various secret compartments for smuggling pastries from the imperials!

Haha I'm imagining crazy Inception sh*t right about now A secret within a secret!
Just like in the movie, you could have trippy, mind-bending areas that just screw with the laws of Physics

Re: Wonko's World: The Map
I loved that movie, and I would love that being in the map.

Re: Wonko's World: The Map
Agreed. It must be done.
After going through several layers of secrets you finally end up in the Inception room where you've gone so deep that there's no escape.

Re: Wonko's World: The Map
How about a crazy-ass candy train or something that teleports you when you jump into it?
Perhaps the train rides around the map randomly or something? Not sure...we'll work on that.
edit: I know we aren't really supposed to steal music or anything, but inception music would be so freggin' awesome for this particular thing

Re: Wonko's World: The Map
Well since jk2files sucks horrendously, I highly doubt we'll be hosting this up there. So we're gonna use whatever music we damn well please.
Re: Wonko's World: The Map
I think a throne for Wonko would be nice.

Re: Wonko's World: The Map
Need some suggestions for water!
Wonko and I played on this map the other day: http://jediknight3.filefront.com/screenshots/File/85884/15 we both agreed that it was some of the nicest water we've ever seen in jk3. So, I'm gonna start working on water shaders 'n such. I've decided to use this as my base texture:

Re: Wonko's World: The Map
Not a fan of the third one...I feel that water should be a bit lighter. I think the first is the best.
Re: Wonko's World: The Map
Whoops, that image doesn't repeat-- it can't be used for water unfortunately. Here's a new list of files to choose from:

Re: Wonko's World: The Map
Except for the first one, I think they all look too bright for normal water. The water from that map was perfect for a frozen area because it looked all reflective like glassy ice. But different areas of the map would have different types of water. The caves in the lowest levels for example would have water that looks more like that siren's enclave water. Mostly see-through but very glowy. Water outside would have some kind of bright blue sky reflective look.
For the penguin area, I'm liking the second or third image up there. It looks like it'd be good for glassy ice water. The first one makes me think of some outside area and the last one, if it were almost completely clear, reminds me of caves lit by glowing underwater crystals.

Re: Wonko's World: The Map
This was from a test shot of some water and waterfall tests. Still fraking around with the water, but I'm pretty happy with the waterfall

Re: Wonko's World: The Map
As a still shot, that looks pretty much exactly like what I'd expect a half frozen waterfall to look like. Nice work

Oh, nice little watery cave nook you've got there. Carve out some caves or something formed by trickling water!
