In case any of you use the PSN, looks like yet another attack is going to happen this weekend.

Check your e-mail, Sony's giving out a year of identity theft protection through Debix. Make sure you sign up for that. Obviously, change your passwords and secret questions and so forth. I'd even consider requesting a new credit card number. Especially if it's a bank card that was compromised.

Way to suck at everything, Sony.

Oh thanks for letting me know man...I was just checking for news on that. Yeah, I'll change my password and everything and let me friends know about this. (who don't play ps3 often)

Major disappointment. I heard that their firewall protection was incomplete and sub-par.

Well the hackers couldn't of picked a worse time to hack psn, what with portal 2 & mk9 just released. And I was looking forward to doin some co-op on portal -_-

But none of this would of happened if sony had some decent security set up in the first place.

Guess when the hackers are finished with sony, they will move onto microsoft and try hacking xbl eh? Just so they can prove it can be done :p

I wouldn't be surprised. Remember that you'll need to change your passwords and everything again after this weekend's hack. Their network is offline but their servers containing your datas are still under attack! Nobody is safe!!

Meh, I gave up on consoles years ago. Not my problem but it'd be unlike AnonOps to use the info they dug up for personal gain (if it actually was them behind the attack.)

Hey guys,
check this out: http://download.cnet.com/8301-2007_4-20060191-12.html?tag=rb_content;main

I don't know about you guys, but I might just go ahead and change all my passwords to like every single site and just use come crazy-ass encryption type of sh*t to keep em' all secure. I don't use LastPass, but eventually, sh*t will start hitting us hard Die Hard 4-style, so precaution must be taken. Best to be safe and just go ahead and start changing stuff before we're fked. Everything on my computer is encrypted. Hard drives are fully encrypted, passwords are encrypted within that encryption. Funny part is, all that encryption actually speeds up data access. Don't ask how, Truecrypt is just that awesome. The level of encryption I use means ain't nobody's gettin' my data from now until the world ends.

I would never use something online like LastPass because it adds a point of potential failure or breach that is completely out of your control. With 1Password, or the other app I used before, the data is all stored locally, meaning only you have access to it, there's no need to log in or transfer data over the internet, it's all local.

I'd be worried about transferring my master password over the internet for something like that, even though I know it's encrypted using all kinds of SSL and so forth. Eventually, that stuff will be breached, and if that encryption is breached, then they have my master password and the rest of my encryption is useless, no matter how secure it is. Basically, it's an extra point of failure that is completely unnecessary. Simplify, people, simplify.

If you want something free, download the program in the second link above and store your passwords in that. Use at least 256bit Blowfish encryption when it asks what you want to use. It's an old program, so it uses some old encryption algorithms that aren't as strong as they were when it was made, but select Blowfish and you're golden.

And, yes, change your passwords. If you bank online, that pass should be strong and not used ANYwhere else. Same thing with credit cards. Who ares about e-mail, but anything that's tied to you or money or your identity in any way needs to have its own separate strong password. Meaning more than 8 characters and not dictionary words.

It was announced today that Sony expects to have PSN fully restored by the end of the month. So yea that's a bit longer than everyone was expecting, so lets hope there are no more delays & that Sony really improve their security system so that PSN doesn't get hacked again.

haha

I guess Sony was too busy buffing up its internal servers with all the fancy codes and stuff, and they didn't worry too much about the password-changing things.
