Damn that's one good looking map. It is for jka right? Cause it looks like a totally different game in that vid... Skyrim comes to mind lol.

Re: Szico releases his latest map
ya it's a jk3 map. He's a freakish mapper btw. I'd say the best mapper ever.

Re: Szico releases his latest map
Just use jkhub.org
It's the replacement site since jk2files sucks so much.

Wow, that's really impressive. 'blivvy's right, it looks like a completely different game. You rarely see full scale houses like that in a jk map.
I usually put BlueIce Twilight on the jk3 server for the winter season, but I think I'm putting this up all winter long instead. It's really amazing!
Good find, thanks for posting this.
Edit: Added to the jk3 downloads list.

Re: Szico releases his latest map
i tried szico's bump mapping technique on my cactus map (on the cacti themselves)
I haven't played this map yet but those bricks look bump mapped to me
basically u make a tga file or other file type that can store alpha channels in addition to the texture. So the then u make a shader that uses the alpha channels to affect the light phase of the compile.\
Basically the lightmap creates shadows along the dark spots of the texture and light on the bright spots. It's supposed to make a 2d texture "seem" like a 3d texture.
I think people were referring to it as speudo bump mapping because with bump real mapping, u can make 2d walls actually become three dimensional with the bump mapping.
I used to post a lot on szico's website and he taught me or linked me to tutorials about some of his odder techniques he found. He and darth norman were how I figured out how to import sky portals into jk2 as well.
Example: he showed me how to make alpha channel shadow casting as well seen here:
and here
Here's szico doing the technique in atlantica. can only really see it towards the bottom of the walls but looks better in game
I tried bump mapping the cacti themselves in this map. Only partially worked out i guess but fun experiement

Re: Szico releases his latest map
Moved the thread to the downloads forum.
Also, I tried putting this map on the server but it returns a SoundIndex error when I go to load it.
My first thought is it could be a clanmod problem. Clanmod hasn't been updated in ages and it's a really buggy mod to be honest. The guy who wrote it really didn't know what he was doing. I always meant to convert my jk2 mod over to jk3, but I never found the time. jk3, unfortunately, isn't active enough for me to bother doing that or even setting up a different mod at this point. The only other real alternative would be JA+ which I never really liked.
Any other thoughts on the crash?
