Re: Google Instant
I almost never actually visit google.com anymore. Chrome sorta does that searching for you automatically when you type things into its automagical whatever bar. I've seen how it works though and I'm not sure if I like it or not.
Re: Google Instant
Yeah, no, I thought that it would be some sort of cutting-edge technology based on what I had heard in the news...or something. It would be nice to use on my iPod Touch, but I don't think it'll save me any time on my laptop. The Google on the iTouch has a few bugs they need to address.
Damn I only have like 50 megs of space left on my iPod, Wonko! What to do, oh, what to do! I do have one question for you: I have all my music in the high quality MP3 (160kbps) format on my iPod. Is converting to 128kbps (good quality) going to make a huge difference on how good the sound is? I mean most of my albums are CD imports, with the rest coming from err... other sources*. So the quality is generally good, but is that speed gonna screw things up? On my laptop, I have all my music in the normal iTunes AAC quality, but I converted it all some time ago to MP3 to fit onto my iPod. Now I'm just kinda considering converting it all again to the aforementioned 128kbps.
Ugh sorry for being off topic I'm sorta in a dilemma here:P Ever since I got invited to a certain website that "selectively distributes virtual items of everlasting importance," so to speak, I've been: "obtaining the aforementioned items rigorously." If you catch my drift, of course.

I disabled that piece of crap.
I prefer seeing the results for myself not getting told which I should visit.

Re: Google Instant
Loki, it shows you the same results.
Ice: 128, in my opinion, is total garbage as far as sound quality goes. But it all depends on what kind of headphones you have. I have an expensive pair of Sennheiser studio quality headphones that sound amazing, and anything at 128kbps sounds like it was recorded inside an empty tuna can. The lowest quality that I consider even remotely acceptable is 192kbps, and even that is pushing it. With a good pair of headphones you'll hear every little beat that skips or tone that is off as a result of the low quality. AAC 256kbps or higher is my preference. Not even fond of mp3 quality anymore.

Re: Google Instant
I also took your advice on the admin forum and bought the Sennheiser CX-300 Precision headphones. I have like over 10 gigs of music but only a 8 gig iPod. I like them but you say that there will be a difference if I make the quality 192?Wonko the Sane wrote:Loki, it shows you the same results.

edit: I don't listen to every song on my iPod so I'll probably just convert up to 192 from my already 256 speed. But only if it really makes a difference.
Also, totally unrelated, but do your have problems with the wires on the headphones making sounds while you have them in your ear? It's kinda annoying.
Re: Google Instant
Where did you buy the headphones from?
And, honestly, if you've got the songs at 256kbps you should just leave them alone. With decent headphones like that you'll notice a difference if you downsample them at all. It's not worth the minuscule amount of space you'd save.

Re: Google Instant
Best buy for 70 bucks I think? Maybe 60? It was way back when I posted that thing on the admin thread, back when I asked you which headphones are ftw. It's ok though it only bothers you when ur running/ jogging and there's too many bad drivers where I live so I dont use headphones for that anyways. The damn school bus drivers go like 20 mph above the limit ( I see them in the morning)
