Or would I...
I have a tech-city map I made about 2 years ago which I never textured. If I ever got the urge to open up GTK, I could texture it and finish it. It's huge btw. But don't count on it. I have been thinking lately about finishing this one, but again I'm not sure if I care to open up GTK again.

Re: Looking for a.... Mapper!
Yeah I'm actually not gonna texture it. So I'll upload it for you. I'll include some shots explaining what everything is.
First some notes on the map. This is a serious map-- it wasn't designed with cutesey textures or gameplay in mind. It is my take on coruscant-type worlds. It is set at night and should have low level lighting. I used a base skybox shader so you can see where the sky is and where the buildings end easier, but feel free to switch skyboxes if you like. The map was called "different city" after the modest mouse song. I made this map while listening to the modest mouse album "the moon and antarctica" over and over again, so that's where the name comes from.
As for the unmapped area, I was thinking I would make something that looks like one of shroom's unfinished maps-- Bespin Pads. This map was in production for... forever! Shroom never quite found a design he liked. This was one of the earlier ones, which I liked a lot.
Now shots of the map, which should help you.
Overview of map:
spawn room:
hallway leading outdoors:
1st outdoor area:
room before the hangar:
hangar with ship I designed:
Hallway:
hallway leading to "environmental room"
environmental room: (NOTE: the circular hole is supposed to hold water, and there should be a water fall. Never got around to that tho :C )
outdoor cul-de-sac
Feel free to ignore anything I said and make it your own. I'm just trying to show you what I was thinking for the map, but that doesn't mean that new directions could be better. If you finish this, be sure to credit me in your readme I really wish I had finished this one, it looks like it could've been great. :C
OHH I ALMOST FORGOT!!
there are two missing textures. Go to the textures menu>find/replace
and replace the texture "textures/alliance/ground" with any grass texture you like (there are good ones in the yavin directory) and replace "textures/alliance/sithrock" with this texture:
These are textures in the environment room.
My internet's being a jerk right now so I can't upload the .map but I'll get on that real soon.

Re: Looking for a.... Mapper!
Kai, I know this sounds weird, this upload being for Tanis 'nd all but that link doesn't seem to work. I just get loading.
Yeah, I admit I'm trying to download it. I don't want use it in the same methods as Tanis. I'm just curious about the way you make your maps. Consider it 'learning purposes'

Click the link and then "free user" and then in about a minute a download button appears. I just tested it, it works fine.
And everyone should feel free to download this if they want to!

Re: Looking for a.... Mapper!
That's awesome Kai! Awesome Modest Mouse song too btw, It's Alright On Ice Alright if you know what I mean!
Re: Looking for a.... Mapper!
I love that rock texture you made.
I map too slowly for clans. My current map was going to be the eS clan map but the clan died and all the players left before I ever finished so I changed it to a nonspecific name. I started it maybe 15 months ago, and now it's still not done.
And it's not that I haven't been working on it but just that it takes a long long time to make anything. Maybe I have 200-400 hours in it...I don't even really know. I don't know how it's possible to just whip something up unless it's small or poorly done.
If you work on it an hour or two every day for the entire year, that adds up to about the time I put in on my current map, which is a lot. Maybe I'm exaggerating, but idk. Hard to say. I think at least 200 hours though and if it was 400 it wouldn't surprise me either.
