Master server lists for jk2 and jk3 are down

Hopefully this is just another server snafu like the last two times they went down for a few days, but it looks like the master servers for jk2 and jk3 aren't responding for anyone.

According to the jk2 wikipedia article, nobody knows if the servers are being retired or not.

As of March 31st 2012, the Jedi Knight II and Jedi Knight III multiplayer servers have been shut down. It is unknown if Raven is retiring both games, or if it is just for maintenance.

Does anyone here have any other info on this or heard any news from other forums?

In the meantime, a reminder that you can still connect to our servers manually by typing
/connect cookies.jedimasters.net into the console.

I do hope that it's just down for maintenance. According to that quote, their also putting down the jka server master list? That's stupid. People still play that, more so than jk2 even.

The last time I loaded up jk3, while there were a ton of servers in the list, most of them were empty. It looked a lot like jk2 where only two or three servers had any real players on them at all. Except instead of a dozen other empty servers there were like fifty.

Oh, really? Yeah, it's actually been a while since I've played JKA, looking back in retrospect. I suppose it's all dying, slowly but surely. We'll see what happens. Honestly, it's an appropriate time to close the serverlist. People don't really even play JK2 from this community in the first place.

There were actually a bunch of new players around recently. I think Steam had some bundle deal where you got jk2 as part of a package. I started seeing a bunch of newer players on the main and the duel server. You can always tell when they're new 'cause they either talk to the bots or they're learning moves with someone else.

I'll email them about this again if the server list doesn't come up within a few days. We'll just have to wait and see. Honestly, though, it doesn't even cost them much to keep it up, right? Obviously everyone who plays this game is a Star Wars geek, so they should continue to appease us

I doubt it costs them anything at all to keep it up. They're probably using one server to host lists for all their games.

Saw some people playing on the duel server earlier today so I checked it out and, sure enough, the master server lists are back up.



False alarm, everyone. The end of the world is still on for December though!

I miss this place, I had a lot of fun here. I've come quite a ways since my idiotic "GIMMIE ADMIN" days (though those were quite fun). It's been what... three years since I first found this place, and looking back, those times were the best. I turned 15 last November and things are starting to get a tad more complicated, which I'm all for, but what I'd give to see those dying months of JK2 again.
