maps for jka

alright. so im having real trouble trying to get into some jka servers. "mba_dotf.bsp", so i download it. version three, two and one. none of them will let me into the server. what are all these "mb2" maps and where do i get the working versions.

Movie Battles II is a total conversion mod, so you'll need to download the client-side mod before you even think about maps.  This looks like the mod's website?  http://www.moviebattles.com/

I've seen those servers but never bothered to try the mod out myself.  I haven't actually fired up jk3 in ages.  Are those the only servers that are left in jk3?

well there are other servers up. but a lot of the populated ones go back and forth between regular maps and these ones. i never heard of http://www.moviebattles.com/. i remember when i used to play though, there was one called knights of the force which was sick but it wasnt and never will be finished.

Just check which mod the server is running in the info.  They may be running some other mod and just using the Movie Battles maps.  Either way it sounds like there's a client-side piece that you're missing.

Alright. Well this mb2 mod looks sick as hell, but too bad my "jedi knight multiplayer is not responding" keeps popping up whenever i join a server. any ideas? im windows 7, 64 bit. yes, im running it as admin and whatnot.

Only when i join an mb2 server. or try to make my own. and i ask people ingame and they just try and troll. ive posted in the forums for mb2 but no response yet and ive seen others with similar problem.

Is there an error in the little jk3 console window after the game crashes?  If not, try these things to narrow down the problem:

1. Does it happen with every MBII map or only some?
2. What if you try to join/create an MBII server that's on a basejka map?
3. What if you try to create a basejka server and switch it to an MBII map?

I'm putting it on my flash drive and putting it on my computer at home and see if it works on there.

It works on my laptop at home so it looks like that i just wont be playing it at work with the high speed internet access.

I'd still try the things I listed above.  It could just be a corrupt download somewhere that you could easily replace.  Or maybe those steps would produce a more specific error message that tells you exactly what's going on.

Knights of the Force is more or less a virus. It installs a bunch of mashed together rubbush and won't let you uninstall. Stay well clear of that.

MBII, however, is a great conversion mod. I played it a ton back when. You'll be hard pressed to get one of the more enjoyable classes (ie Jedi) but it's really good regardless.

As for your actual problem, you'll need to give us more info if you can.

I never did try MBII but I did try out something similar where you could choose ur class and stuff. I didn't play JKA mp that much either, well compared to JK2 so I can't really give any advice.

There's no update. Haven't been able to try it. Been busy at work. Then got a second job. I can play it, however on my home computer. It's just laggy e'ry now and then. But I really like it.
