Re: doctor who
You guys should check out the google homepage atm. They're celebrating the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who. They even have a little game and everything!

Re: doctor who
Currently watching the 50th anniversary special, I have to say, I misjudged Matt Smith. He's a good actor.

Re: doctor who
There's so much wrong with that article I can't even list it all.
First off, "BBC" isn't saying anything. This is just some guy's opinions on a blog. I can go and write a blog post on why licking purple post-its dipped in mayonnaise prevents skin cancer if done twice daily, but that doesn't mean that everyone thinks that.
"There is no connection or emotional investment in the storylines, and the series is awash with inconsistencies."
The former point is entirely subjective. I'm very invested in the storyline, and I'm very connected to it. But like I said previously, that's just an opinion. But hey, it isn't as if Doctor Who is a British tradition with a large North American fanbase..... oh wait.
Regarding the latter point, that may be true, but the writer did not bother to back that up with any examples. Oh, by the way, licking purple post-its dipped in mayonnaise prevents skin cancer if done twice daily, did I mention that? Just take my word for it.
"The sonic screwdriver is constantly used as a "get out of jail free" card, for whatever situation the Doctor finds himself in. Viewers are offered no understanding or internal logic as to how the sonic screwdriver operates."
Hey Dumbo, who gave you a degree in Sonic Technology Engineering? Oh, that's right, nobody because IT HASN'T BEEN INVENTED YET ON EARTH 'CAUSE IT'S ONLY THE 21ST CENTURY.
"There's limited suspense. Should he ever be mortally wounded, the Doctor will simply regenerate into a new body. Why would we be scared for him?"
He only has 13 regenerations (if I recall correctly), so his "lives" are limited and precious.
"The old Doctor Who was infamous for its pitifully low budget, often with shoddy sets and special effects apparently made in a garden shed. The monster of the week was invariably a man in (yet another) rubber suit. "
And it still ended up being one of the most popular and longest-running shows in T.V. history, so suck it.
"Despite the advent of CGI, this shoddiness continues to permeate the presentation of the series."
First off, Doctor Who is cheesy and it knows it. Secondly, the CGI and animation has improved so drastically these past few years. From the 9th doctor to the 10th doctor, it got so much better, and ever since Amy and Rory were the companions, it improved even more. When I watched the last xmas special, I was astounded at how nice things were, so no, you're wrong Razz To quote Eric Cartman from South Park, "SUCK MY BALLS!!!"
"Daleks are like a wheelie bin with a plunger. I am simply not scared of them, no matter how much people may scream"
EXTERMINATE!!!
*pwhooosh*
"The Tardis itself just doesn't interest me either. What is interesting about a blue police box compared with the star ship Enterprise or the Millennium Falcon?"
*Travels through space in time*
"Oh hey, Han. Sup?"
"I shot first."
"No, Han. You shot You...shot."
"Damn right I did."
*Travels to Enterprise*
"Beam me up Sco--where the hell did you come from!?!"
"Nice ship. I got a TARDIS. Yeah."
"But. but--who beams you up? Where's your Scotty?"
(in Batman-esque gruff tone) "Don't need one. I roll with hot chicks."
"Son of a..."
*Travels back in time for lunch*
Re: doctor who
Oh you peoples.
I tend to think anyone who says they don't like it hasn't given it a proper chance. The story arcs and character reveals span entire seasons, sometimes more, so you can't watch one episode in the middle of a season and expect to "get it" or be emotionally invested in the plight of the Doctor or his companions. Those who do watch an isolated episode of course only see the cheesy special effects and odd writing and will quickly list off all the things the series lacks (like that blog). The thing is, if you were following along in any one of the overall story arcs, practically every one of the complaints that guy sited gets addressed. I mean, the series has been around for decades. Most sci-fi shows are lucky if they last a few years.
My theory on what keeps it going is that every time the story starts to get stale, they can introduce a new companion or two which completely changes the dynamic of the show and keeps it fresh. When even that gets old, they replace the Doctor with a new actor who basically turns it into an entirely different show every time. Each actor brings his own personality to it to such an extreme that it can sometimes be like watching a spinoff series or something. It's kind of genius from a writing standpoint. The show that can never get old because it constantly re-invents itself into a new thing.
Look, even Bean likes the show:

Re: doctor who
I think they announced November at first, didn't they? At least this is sooner. Also, I really hope they add the new episodes on Netflix. I wanna rewatch!!!
Re: doctor who
Series 8 teaser. I normally don't watch these but I couldn't resist because I have so many questions about this new Doctor. Ever since he appeared and didn't seem to know how to fly the TARDIS, I've been thinking that this new set of regenerations might mean he has no memory of his past regenerations, at least for a while? This seems to hint at that...
Re: doctor who
... ...?
... So the entire video I'm like but then something happens at the end that makes you go but then it gets even worse and quickly degrades into and I don't think even can figure out what's going on.
