Re: doctor who
It aired today, and I just watched it!
Totally badass, but you still need to watch the older ones. The cinematography was very nice Gotta love being home for the holidays, with that BBC America in HD on cable
I started watching a bit after it started because I had it on DVR, so I could just forward through the ads.

Re: doctor who
You have to pay extra to get that channel, but yeah it's available.
Also, I finally found the time to catch up on Doctor Who and you're right, Ice, the Christmas special was great. I noticed a couple things though that I wonder if anyone else noticed.

So the scene where River broke her wrist to escape the Angel's grip, then the Doctor heals it and she gets mad at him saying it was a pointless waste of regeneration energy. It was a quick scene and then it was over, and they didn't mention anything about that the rest of the episode. I think they're setting that up for a future story arc, probably next season. Here's the thing. Time Lords can only regenerate 12 times, meaning 13 new bodies total. We're on Doctor number 11. This was a fact established way back in the classic Doctor Who episodes and, discounting some jokes, they've said they have no intention on changing it. So in that context, it starts to make sense that she'd be really pissed at him for wasting that energy and it makes sense that they'd start to introduce that concept now if it will be a big part of next season's story.
I'm also thinking that after next season we're going to have a new Doctor. I think this new companion, Oswald, is going to be to the 11th Doctor what Donna Noble was to the 10th Doctor. If you remember Donna's story arc, she basically appeared totally randomly and impossibly in the Tardis on the first day and, even though they tried to go separate ways, fate basically stuck them together. And their story was basically written out, with the Ood having foreseen the Doctor Donna and all that. So it was all destiny, really, that their story played out the way it did, and then the Doctor doing what he had to do to save her so she would live, it really tore him apart. Donna was basically the end of the 10th Doctor. He couldn't take anymore heartbreak and he snapped.
Now look at what's happened with the 11th Doctor. He's at the lowest of lows since Donna, hiding in his box, and this random person keeps getting forced into his life by fate/destiny/whatever. They keep being separated, but she keeps being forced back into his life. This is obviously a setup for another huge Doctor Donna style destiny story arc, and you have to think. What will happen after something happens to her in the end too? He's totally gonna snap from the heartbreak. It'll be the end of the 11th Doctor and then we'll have the 12th, and he'll only have one more regeneration left. So it's kinda interesting where they might be going with all this.

- Wow, I didn't know that about time lords. That's interesting...I guess it'd take a miracle to give him more regeneration powers. Perhaps he returns to Gallifrey to the dismay of the remaining time lords, all of whom hate him, so that they may transfer some of their powers to him? In return for something perhaps? Who knows. And yeah, I also thought something along those lines of the fatalistic nature behind Oswin's and The Doctor's meetings. I am very excited to see what happens next in DW. Looks like we have to wait until April, though. Ugh!
^^ there's my response to Wonko's spoilers haha.
As for BBC America, my parents get it, so that is how I was able to watch the Christmas special. I think they also watch other British-ish shows there, so even if it were removed from their current cable subscription, they would probably still get it? I don't know. My dad says he has the most basic cable subscription, so I have honestly no idea how he has it. It comes on the HD channel too, though, for which he has to pay extra, so maybe through that? I don't know. All I know is that Doctor Who looks f-in' awesome in HD.
Otherwise, the only other options are to get DW from iTunes or..."obtain it" lol.
Re: doctor who
A response to Ice's response to my spoilers:
- Spoiler:
You've seen all of the 9th and 10th Doctor's seasons right? The rest of the Time Lords and Gallifrey were all put in a time lock by the Doctor to end the time war with the Daleks. Nobody in or out, ever. In effect, he killed them all and destroyed the planet. I believe this was all part of the 10th Doctor's woeful tale at some point. So there's no more Time Lords left and he can never return to Gallifrey 'cause it essentially doesn't exist anymore.
The only possible loophole is that River Song gave all her remaining regenerations to him, which I actually think may have only been one though, in which case nothing changes at all because he was going to die right there anyway. So plus one, minus one, evens it back out.
It's all very ominous though and it sucks that now April is so far away!
Re: doctor who
- Spoiler:
- I remember the time lock, but I was thinking that maybe there would be some trippy loophole wherein he could un-time lock them or something. Perhaps not, then.

Re: doctor who
At one time, Peter played the Doctor. He had a daughter. Georgina grew up, and became an actress. David, an actor, became the Doctor. Georgina was cast to play a sort of clone of the Doctor, becoming the Doctor's daughter. Not the Doctor's daughter as she was already that, but the Doctor's Daughter. She filmed the show and then left, but didn't stop being the Doctor's daughter. But before her on the show, we saw Billie. Bille didn't play the Doctor's daughter, she played the Doctor's girlfriend Rose. She left the show before we saw the Doctor's daughter, but she knew the Doctor. After leaving the show, she met Matt. Matt is an actor too who would play the Doctor, and he likes Billie. So they dated. She's not on television with the Doctor, so she can date Matt. In front, they even dated on television. Not as her and the Doctor. But after a bit, she went back to the Doctor on television. And she dated the Doctor again. Well, they tried to date, but the Doctor nearly died. So much so that he split into two Doctors. She wanted to date a Doctor, so she chose one and they went and dated off television. Leaving the Doctor not dating anyone. Except David, who played the Doctor and the Doctor dating Rose, had met Georgina, the Doctor's daughter and the Doctor's Daughter. And they dated. This seemed okay with the Doctor, as he liked the Doctor and the Doctor's daughter together, because the Doctor really likes the Doctor's daughter's kids. So much so that he adopted the Doctor's daughters kid. And they had a kid of their own, a daughter. It wouldn't have been okay with Rose, but she was dating a different Doctor who was also played by David, so it was okay with both Billie and Rose for David, the Doctor, to be dating Georgina, the Doctor's daughter. I'd mentioned that the Doctor wasn't dating anyone? Well, he died, but not before turning into Matt, who had dated Billie who had played Rose. He is not dating Billie now. Or dating Rose. He's busy filming television. He's currently filming an episode where he sees the Doctor. And Rose. Matt, the Doctor, meets the Doctor and Rose from an earlier time because the Doctor and Rose are time travellers. In fact, the Doctor and Rose are not dating either as it's early times for them. And its after the time that Matt and Billie dated.because Matt wasn't on the show when they dated. That was an earlier time.
So, the final scene is: David and the Doctor's daughter are dating. Rose and the Doctor are dating. Billie isn't dating the Doctor, the Doctor, the Doctor, the Doctor's daughter or Rose but she did date Matt, the Doctor at an earlier time. Matt isn't dating Peter, David, or Billie, Rose or Georgina, the Doctor's daughter because the Doctor is busy filming television. Peter wouldn't date Billie, Rose, Matt or David or Georgina, the Doctor's daughter. The Doctor's Daughter wouldn't date her father.. the Doctor, but she's dating her husband.. the Doctor. She's not dating the Doctor though because he's busy filming television. Well, not the Doctor who always films television these days, but the Doctor who's Daughter she is, David. The father of her daughter. I don't think she'd date the Doctor though because that would make her father the Doctor mad if she dated the Doctor while she was married to the Doctor. And it'd probably make her husband the Doctor mad too I'd suspect.
Re: doctor who
First weekend without a new Doctor Who episode. I thought I could handle it and be all but instead I'm all like
Re: doctor who
omgosh man, tell me about it. I do not think I can wait until November for it to restart.
Re: doctor who
I don't know about you guys, but I love the retro feel of the latest Tardis interior, far more than any of its previous looks:

Re: doctor who
Just kidding. It really is an awesome show though, it's worth your time. Good story, good characters. A little goofy sometimes, a lot goofy other times, but that's all part of its charm.
Re: doctor who
with christopher eccleston when I was younger. Then ofcourse david temnant.Wonko the Sane wrote:Oh nice, where are you up to? Which Doctor did you start with?
But during that time i stopped watching. Untill the new doctor was back.
So I quicly rewatched all tenmant episodes to see the new doctor.
And now i'm almost done with every episode!
Re: doctor who
I wasn't the biggest fan of Matt Smith until Clara came along. Now I'm actually sad to see him go. He and Clara had such good chemistry. It reminds me a lot of 10 and Rose.
It seems pretty obvious that they're trying to give us another Rose. I mean, she's going to be sticking around, from what I've read, through the new Doctor, just like Rose did, and you can tell there's a little something there besides just curiosity. I'm really hoping the new Doctor and she work well together otherwise I'll be pretty upset. She's an awesome companion with a pretty great story arc.
