Re: doctor who
ikr? I love how, in the second one, The Doctor is trying to "interact" with the natives of that planet and fails to do so, and Romana steps in and gets shit done, while the doc is like, "Why can she do that." And K9's all, "'Cause she's sexy and you aren't" lol

Anyone going to NYC for the world premiere? Tickets are 1.11, provided they haven't sold out immediately

Re: doctor who
There's a world premier in NYC? What, in a theater of some sort? And are we talking the "live" broadcast? I didn't think we got it live over here, even on the BBC America channel. Thought it was delayed or something from when the folks on the other side of the ocean get to see it.
Re: doctor who
Oh btw guys (yes, I can double post--I'm me), I finished watching Firefly and Serenity and loved it! The worst part was that it ended Wish there was more of that shit, man, that was awesome. I loved the existentialism of the last episode
I really am pissed that they were forced to make a movie out of the show. I really would have wanted to see more character development, but I just feel like they were forced to make do with what they got. Honestly, it was an amazing show--I'd watch it again.
What else do you all recommend? I never really watched anything Sci-Fi until I started listening to you lot.
PS Wonko: I can see that you mimick Captain Malcolm Reynolds more than once on occasions in terms of the things you say..

Re: doctor who
Lies. Captain Tightpants got it all from me.
But yeah it originally aired on Fox, who butchered it by playing all the episodes out of order so nobody could get into the characters or the story until after it was released on DVD in the proper order. Then everyone realized how awesome it was, donned their browncoats and held money backers at gunpoint until they funded a full movie to wrap everything up.
As far as other shows, I strongly suggest you watch Castle at some point, it's an amazing story with amazing characters, writing, and story and it's still airing so there is no end yet. It's not scifi, it's a cop/detective story that focuses more on using leaps logic than science.
If you want to continue scratching your sci-fi itch before watching Castle, though, I'd say watch Farscape. One of the best sci-fi shows I've ever watched. It's all on Netflix but the first 5-6 episodes are slightly out of order so check wikipedia for the proper order. It's nothing major, but it will make a bit more sense time-wise if you watch it in the correct order since every episode is connected to the previous one. Especially after season 2. It's like one long movie at that point, broken up into smaller episodes. That's probably what I like most about the show. Seasons 3 and 4 were amazing in terms of the threaded stories and character development. It's another show that got canned prematurely, then the fans busted out all their Peacekeeper Pulse Pistols space western style and blew up a planet or two (Captain Tightpants never blew up a planet!) until they cried for mercy and made the Peacekeeper Wars mini movie to wrap it up.

"Ah. It's all making sense now! The peculiar behavior. The odd clothes. The bizarre factory. The strangely alien Oompa Loompas. The reckless disregard for the companions children. The flying box elevator. Of course! How could we have missed the obvious connection? "

Re: doctor who
So, who else saw the newest Doctor Who episode? It was pretty kickass.

- Spoiler:
- I thought the ending was intriguing. I sorta expected that chick'd end up being a Dalek, but it was also cool how she wiped out the Daleks' memories of the Doctor's existence.
Re: doctor who
Have not seen it yet. Probably will have time to watch it middle of next week. Did you watch the online prequels at all? Search for "Pond Life". I think there's 5 parts total.
Re: doctor who
"Ood on the loo" haha!
No, I hadn't seen this.
I was curious as to why they didn't show Amy and Rory splitting up (a story that does continue into the next episode obviously).

Re: doctor who
You should keep an eye out for prequels as the season progresses. Last season they did one for the major plot points every few episodes I think?
They'll appear on the official BBC youtube like those pond life ones. We should post 'em here as we find them so everyone has a quick way to find them instead of searching around. After a while people start reposting and commenting and you never know which is the original video anymore.

Also, here is a prequel I just found out about like five minutes ago:
Prequel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1r2dQkB1fY
Seriously, you have to watch the prequel. Otherwise, you just don't know why The Doctor is where he is when the show starts and, most importantly, how he got the message. Apparently this is an iTunes-only exclusive or something. I learned about it by looking at the iTunes page. I actually get BBC America, so I can watch the show through there (just learned about this the day it aired).
Re: doctor who
So, where is everyone in the new season, then? I'm excited for this new episode tonight. Last week's episode was pretty kickass.
"Dinosaurs...on a spaceship!"

Re: doctor who
I watched the first episode on Thursday, but I haven't seen that one yet. I'm gonna try to get caught up this week but it depends on if it's another busy week or not.
Possible spoilers from the Internet about future episodes and who his new companion will end up being. Don't click if you haven't heard and want to be surprised.

- Spoiler:
- Last chance!! Don't highlight the white text if you want to be surprised!I saw images and hints on the web showing that actress as the Doctor's new companion, but she apparently has a different name or something. So I'm curious to see how that's going to end up happening. Keep in mind that he never actually saw her inside there. My theory: The Daleks will launch a campaign to figure out the answer to "doctor who?" and send her in as a spy! That'd sure be a crazy twist, huh?
Re: doctor who
guys this new season is kicking ass. i don't think any other seasons had the first 3 episodes be this good.

Re: doctor who
He's starting to do some Tennantisms. He used "__ibly ___obly" in the first episode and he also said "I'm sorry. I am so sorry." which was one of the 10th Doctor's things, along with always knowing the names of people who died.
I haven't seen more than the first episode yet, so I'll have to reserve judgement on the supposed awesomeness of this season so far until I do.

Re: doctor who
Matt Smith has retroactively taken the __ibbly ___obbly phrase, due to the sheer number of times he's used it. In the Christmas Special he used humany wumany. God that was terrible
but yes! you must keep watching! the last two have been fantastic, and I hear from the little birds that the next one is awesome as well! I can't believe that we're more than halfway through now. such a tease......

yeah the episodes have been phenomenal so far.

- Spoiler:
- Another thing that Tennant's companions did was stop him before he did something not "Doctor-like." Case in point, Amy stopped The Doctor before he sent that one other alien doctor out to his doom.
Re: doctor who
Still haven't found the time to catch up on all the episodes Been so busy and it sucks not having time for Doctor Who.
So sad because the weeping angels are awesome!!
