Re: doctor who
I liked the part where she was hooking up with Gwen.
...a lot of good drama there?

Guess it depends on ones definition of 'drama'.

Re: doctor who
These days drama means idiot blondes whining and clawing about how they saw him first, that zombie is so hooking up with her cousin's ex, and that vampire is about to make love to that very same zombie, nowait just kidding you have to wait until next week to see how that doesn't happen we were just teasing you it's actually big foot.
Re: doctor who
I'm probably going to watch it if it's more drama-ish of a show. Doctor Who is just a thrill ride. I'm lovin' it. I had some friends over the other day to watch the Spain vs. France game, and we (I) decided that Doctor Who would be the perfect tailgating entertainment before it started...but everyone was all, "Turn this shit off!" hahaaha
Re: doctor who
Maybe anyone jumping into it halfway through a story arc may not enjoy it as much? There's also idiots out there who won't watch something just because it's known as more of a geeky type of show regardless of how good it is. And a lot of people on this side of the ocean think of all British shows as cheesy crap in general and won't give any of them a chance. They're so programmed by American television to expect a strict schedule of high-budget action, followed by a tiny bit of character development but not too much because all us Americans apparently have short attention spans so quickly show some boobies followed by a beer commercial to regain wandering attention and then finish off with a few giant explosions and everybody dies wow that was the best ever they can never top that except in part 2 the explosions are bigger, the boobies are bouncier, and the beer commercials are longer WOW!!!

Oh sorry I meant to say "not"
My bad haha. Disrehard that last post.
Re: doctor who
What you should do is watch the 5 episode miniseries Children of Earth, which is epic awesome and scary. The rest of Torchwood isn't really worth it.
And maybe one day your friends will understand the amazingness that is the Doctor.
Anyway, news about the new season!!! The stars are aligning and it appears that the premier date could possibly be August 25th, beginning with an episode titled Asylum of the Daleks (Moffat's first Dalek centered episode)!
Also (SPOILERS!!!) there are hints about how the Ponds are leaving the show hidden somewhere in the Eleventh Hour.

Re: doctor who
There's one thing that always bugged me that they've never resolved in the Matt Smith episodes so far, and they rarely leave things unresolved. I don't remember which episode it was off the top of my head, but...
(so I don't ruin anything for Ice:)
(so I don't ruin anything for Ice:)
- Spoiler:
there was one where as Amy and the Doctor get out of the Tardis, there's two people who we later find out are Amy and Rory standing on a hill in the distance waving at them. It's supposedly their future selves, and near the end of the episode Rory is gone and it's just Amy waving. Why no Rory and how'd they end up there waving anyway? Did they leave that completely unexplained or was I just not paying enough attention? Any time they've had something like that happen in previous seasons they always followed the timeline straight through to the other side and connected the events that caused the overlap.
Re: doctor who
- Spoiler:
- That episode was in the near future, so Amy and Rory knew they were going to be there so they went to go wave hello to themselves. Rory wasn't there at the end of the episode because he was sucked into a crack in time so he had never existed at that point. It's interesting that you bring this up though, considering that if either Amy or Rory come to meet their end, that moment won't make sense anymore. Although Moffat goes by the "time can be rewritten" theory of time travel so I guess it doesn't really matter much...

Re: doctor who
I finished season 4. I ordered Planet of the Dead on Netflix, so I will watch that first because that's apparently the next one according to the end of "The Next Doctor."time wrote:The specials are all included in the Netflix listings except for the ones in between season 4 and 5. After season 4, you have to watch The Next Doctor, Planet of the Dead, The Waters of Mars, and The End of Time. I don't think Planet of the Dead is on Netflix anymore so you'll have to go digging.

Not all the specials are in there. The short Children in Need specials that they do seem to be missing. Time Crash, for example, is one of the best ones and it's not included anywhere in Netflix. Search for it on Youtube, that's where I watched it.
There was also an earlier Children in Need episode at the very beginning of Tennant's run which is amusing. It's worth watching and should have been part of the main episodes.

Re: doctor who
haha awesome. I don't understand the Tally Marks one yet, but I'm sure that I will one day
Does anyone watch The Sarah Jane Adventures? That's apparently the other spin-off series according to Wikipedia. I've heard of it before, of course, and the characters from all the spin-offs appeared in the last episode of Season 4. But I never really noticed it until I realized it was Doctor Who-related, like with Torchwood, which I will probably watch one of these days. Wikipedia is calling it a "teen drama," which means that you're all going to say that it sucks. Does it actually not? Just curious.

Re: doctor who
It was targeted at a younger audience compared to DW but I guess it'd be alright? Never watched it myself.
Partly related: There's some people working on making a DW mod for Minecraft. Looks nifty so far

Re: doctor who
I've seen the Weeping Angels in minecraft, but it's single player only at the moment
I don't think Torchwood was teen dramaey, it was actually more for adults, which is why it airs later in the evening than Doctor Who. So they're able to get away with more mature stuff like in that video clip. If you have time to waste, it's worth watching. Personally, I prefer getting character story backgrounds so I was glad I watched all of it even though season 1 wasn't that good. It made it better when I got to the good season.

Re: doctor who
I was referring to the spin-off show "The Sarah Jane Adventures", not Torchwood. That's my bad, though, my wording was a bit off. This show: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sarah_Jane_AdventuresWonko the Sane wrote:I don't think Torchwood was teen dramaey, it was actually more for adults,
As for Torchwood, I watched the pilot today. It wasn't bad, per se, but Doctor Who is a million times better. And what's up with the second episode? I didn't even watch it yet, but judging from the preview, it's about...sex-crazed aliens? That's soo NOT Doctor Who right there haha.
Re: doctor who
Yeah well, that's Torchwood for you. If you can stick with it though it does get better after the first season. I haven't watched the Sarah Jane Adventures though so I couldn't say about that.
Re: doctor who
I saw one episode of Sarah Jane Adventures, cause Matt Smith was in it. It was okayish I guess, I wouldn't go out of my way to watch more.

Re: doctor who
Just showed one of my unindoctrinated friends Blink... god I love that episode. So Ice, where you at now? If you're continuing at the same rate you should have finished by now!

Re: doctor who
So I finished season six. Crazy stuff, man! Doctor WHO???
Still haven't seen the xmas special (it's also on Netflix--I'll watch it some other Time).
I miss David Tennent, but Smith's alright. Actually, you know what? Screw it. I might as well go watch it right now. Then I'll be as up-to-date as you guys are!

Re: doctor who
Did you see A Christmas Carol? I don't think that one was on Netflix, and it also happens to be one of the best episodes of the show.
