4/5 seems reasonable...
So does anybody have one? I know a few guys who wanted to preorder but couldn't 'cause it was all sold out. From a marketing point of view, Apple did a good job outlining the kickass features, but still, they kinda failed their main premise, which was to dominate netbooks. netblooks are, in my view, absolute sh*t. A nice laptop beats the iPad anyday (I got my laptop for less than the iPad and it does everything just fine). The only reason I would want one is if I REALLY wanted to watch netflix movies on it or something (theres a netflix app that came out today that does that). But no flash support or cameras is an automatic no in my opinion. Plus, lets not forget the most important thing the Apple people forgot: chicks love gadgets!!! But not one that sounds like a f**kin' tampon!
I already have an iPod touch and don't need another giant-ass thingy that does everything I can already do.
(sorry for being so narrow-minded but I have a giant f**kin headache atm and I can't think straight)

Re: Apple iPad
I'll likely be grabbing myself one of the wifi models. Keep in mind that this baby does quite a bit more than an iPod Touch. For example, for you students out there, taking notes or writing essays and so forth on an iPad is just awesome. Pages (Apple's word processor) is infinitely better than Word, especially the new versions of Word. 97, 2000.. they were ok. 2003... uh, alright... 2007.. the f00k is this crap?! 2010?!? ?!! M$ just can't leave well enough alone. Hate, hate hate. Love love, love Pages though. You can make presentations and then hook it up to a projector at school too. Keynote handles that.
Buddy of mine who owns a web marketing company is getting one for being able to take works-in-progress to his clients and show off the work they do on their websites and other products, get feedback, take notes, take it all back to the office and do the work on the iMacs. We'll be using one as a digital picture frame during our wedding shoots also, so after we shoot the main wedding we can set it up during the reception near the cake or something and let people watch all the photos of the wedding they were just at. Because people are superficial and crazy like that.
For me, the photo viewer is awesome, so I want to get my photos in there just to have around with me. I love the way the thing browses the web. It's a perfect size screen for that. The lack of flash, honestly, is not a huge deal. There's a huge list of websites that have already written off flash and gone to html5 just for this thing (before it was even released), and this list will only be growing in the coming weeks. All the main sites I want to go to are already taken care of. Netflix.. there's an app. CBS, ABC... I can get my TV show fix from html5 versions of their sites or the CBS app. Done and done. Hulu? Hulu sucks now, they just redirect to places like CBS so screw hulu.
Games are gonna be awesome on that thing. It's wicked fast (yes, I've played with one), it feels solid (surprisingly substantial for its size.. I was expecting a tin can feeling like the iPod Touches), and the keyboard's actually really nice. I'll be using it for my e-mail and my instant messaging and I see it being faster and easier for both, believe it or not.
You really have to go to an Apple store and try one out, though. It's so easy to say oh, it doesn't do flash until you actually go and try it out and see why that's actually not such a big deal. And it's pretty easy to say that your laptop does everything better until you see how slick and fast that thing is. And small. And thin and light. My laptop is not that thin and light. Imagine everywhere you go every day. Would you take your laptop with you? I wouldn't.. that's a lot of extra bulk. But this thing.. hell yeah. Slip it in a pocket in a messenger bag or backpack or purse (for the ladies and the guys who fancy themselves ladies) and you won't even know it's there. I'll be taking mine with me everywhere.
That said, you do still need a main computer at home. This thing isn't designed to replace a computer, it's just meant to be a slick little portable extension of a computer. You still need to sync it up with something, back it up to something, and so forth, so don't ditch your laptop just yet. People still seem to expect the iPad to replace a computer even after Apple has blatantly said it isn't meant to. Ultimately, people are stupid and don't listen.
Enough talk, go play with one and make up your own damn mind. Shoo!
Edit: Walt Mossberg does a nice review of one. He's usually a trusted tech journalist.. pretty impartial and says it like it is. He's not afraid to say something sucks if it does. http://9to5mac.com/mossberg-reviews-ipad-45606237

Re: Apple iPad
ImagineFX reviewed this last month. As much as I personally can't stand Apple, it does actually seem pretty helpful. Seems like such a hassle just to use it though, what with the going through Apple to try it, syncing it, etc.

That's cause they want every1 to buy the original ipad then when the newer version that includes camera etc. comes out every1 will want that one instead. It's all about making money, every company does it XD
Look @ nintendo ds for example. How many models of that have they made?

I could swear I posted an image related to that. In any case, here it is again.blivvy wrote:Look @ nintendo ds for example. How many models of that have they made?
Also stumbled across this one for the Wii. Personally prefer the DS version myself.

I see your point, Wonko, and I do hope you guys enjoy your iPads!!! Yeah I guess those of us who don't need another device in our lives are just a bit more biased on the opinion. MS Office 2010 is the most bullshit program on my computer. Tablets aren't gonna be replacing anything at the moment. I can't write an essay unless I'm using a laptop or desktop, personally.
haha Adobe is coming with some new Flash development sh*t in CS5, some new program or something to encourage its products. HTML 5 is the future amid mobile development and web apps. Standards change as does technology. If a company can't shut the f up! and conform, then they become like Microsoft
Microsoft is like a giant-ass tractor on a farm you know? The farm of life. If keeps doing its thing (whatever trackers do... I don't know sh*t about farms) until it breaks down. Then, the other trackers behind it go past it and start trackering, if you know what I'm sayin'. Then... they'll break down and something else will come in waving a flag saying: "Bitches, wassup my name is company A motha f*ckas!!! I'ma pwn dis joint I got mah kalashnikov n' ima f*ck ur asses up!" ... then the cycle repeats. I once wrote an essay as confusing as this with obscure references in econ in freshman year and aced it Lets not get in the details
...anyways... that's Econ101 with Professor Ice.

Re: Apple iPad
Seriously, tell me why you would want an iPad? Especially if you already have a touch (like me) or an iPhone.
Re: Apple iPad
Stop thinking about it as a big iPod and start thinking about as a small laptop. Also, go play with one yourself and you'll see what I mean. It's a lot more than just an iPod.
Re: Apple iPad
iPeed.
Now that would be an awesome device.
Interesting to note on the iPad; the queues were shorter on day 1 launch than the ones for the iPhone. Anyone care to speculate why?

Re: Apple iPad
Well, does it have wifi or a wireless connection? If wifi, then it's just a bigger, better iPod imo.
If internet, then yes, it's a very thin and cool laptop.

Re: Apple iPad
Both. The fact that you don't even know that means you haven't even read anything about the iPad, because that's written all over the place. So you automatically forfeit the right to be part of this discussion based on ignorance. Go away. Minus a thousand points.

I tend to think it's a piece of junk too. We'll find out over the next few years.

Few years? Do you know how quickly technology advances? I don't know what you're thinking will happen in a few years, but I fully expect to be riding a small moon to Alderaan to blast a big chunk of it out of the sky!! Hey you bastards, Wonko the Sane was here!!!
