JK3 Server!
The news slipped out accidentally a while ago before the server was actually ready, so some of you already know it's been online for some time. I've finally compiled a map list for the server, which you can find in the downloads section here and I've added a server tracker to the portal for JK3.
If you have a login in JK2, don't expect one for JK3. It's a different mod that doesn't give me quite as many options for admin management as my JK2 mod, so I probably won't be giving logins to too many people unless it becomes a popular server. Just go and have some fun Voting is enabled, of course.

Re: JK3 Server!
Probably not. JK3 does not make it easy to compile mods for Linux. They don't give you any tools to do it like they do for JK2, so you're pretty much on your own. I could if I really wanted to, but it would involve creating a virtual machine with a specific version of Linux that can run a very specific version of Intel's C++ compiler and even then, there's no guarantees that it wouldn't blow up in my face.
All in all, more effort than it's worth. I'll stick with Clanmod for now.

Re: JK3 Server!
Least the server's up, running, and not likely to blow up in my face.
Good job Wonko! May The Force Be With You!

Re: JK3 Server!
Wonko, if you don't feel like modding for jk3 in the conditions you have or you don't end up liking Clanmod, get JA+ Mod. It has a bunch of add-ons, it's extremely customizable and there are frequent releases that come out with new features, so you probably won't even feel the need to do any modding.
@Ice
Ouch, mine is 1.87 GB. Hope that doesn't make you feel any worse.

Re: JK3 Server!
JA+ sucks, and development has all but stopped on it. I used to use it on the server when clanmod was still too buggy to use, but as soon as clanmod became reasonably stable I switched.
JA+ alters the gameplay and combat so much and does such a horrible job at it. Duels are the most random things ever. Half the people who say they hate jk3 because the combat sucks don't actually realize that it's not jk3, it's ja+ that is causing the duels to suck so horribly ("Hold on a sec, I have to sneeze... ah .. aaaah CHOO!" -- "OMG I LOST ALL MY HP WTF?! HAX!!!"). If they tried basejka they might actually like it better.

Re: JK3 Server!
Solution: Make a mod that just fixes security issues but I know the score with that. The source isn't very Linux friendly.Wonko the Sane wrote:JA+ sucks, and development has all but stopped on it. Re: JK3 Server!
Hey Wonko, I don't want to sound like a total noob. But, how do you mod? I tried the modding thing that came with the JK2 Editing Tools and when I built it, I got an error for the "float" command in q_shared.h and it repeats about 128 times and one other time it give the error for the same command except for q_math.c
Here are the errors if you are interested
If you could help out that would be magnificent. ^.^

- Spoiler:
- Code:
Error 1 error C2059: syntax error : 'type' c:\program files\lucasarts\star wars jk ii jedi outcast\gamedata\code\game\q_shared.h 748 JK2game
- Code:
Error 127 error C2059: syntax error : 'type' c:\program files\lucasarts\star wars jk ii jedi outcast\gamedata\code\game\q_math.c 1334 JK2game

Re: JK3 Server!
Don't use Visual Studio to compile the mod, use the game.bat provided by the jk2 editing tools. It's in the same folder as the source code files.
Re: JK3 Server!
Thanks, I thought you had to Build All in Visual Studio first. xD
Here's another nooby question, how do you mod something like DS-Online? Is there a way to open up the .qvm or do you have to download the open source?

Re: JK3 Server!
Not sure if the qvm can be used. Maybe with a kanker but then I've never used one so again I'm not sure.
Also, DS-Online isn't open source. Some people have the source like Wonko and I but I won't give and Wonko certainly won't (as I pestered for days with no avail) so have a good look around. It'll turn up

Re: JK3 Server!
Here's the source for 1.32: [No ]
I think the source for 2.0 is there somewhere too.

Re: JK3 Server!
I removed the links 'cause I can. Just because I'm still iffy on Spikey's policy for this source. Argue all you want, I'd rather not link them here. Of course a clan like Flaw doesn't care about the author's rights, wishes, or concerns when posting files, but I do, and Spikey happens to be a friend.
Re: JK3 Server!
I should'a mentioned that. No real harm done though.
