A Free Game Empty A Free Game

So recently, I reinstalled Battlefield 1942, a classic game that needs no introduction because it's just so awesome that I feel most of you have already played it. However, I've had trouble making an image file for it to play on the go without my original CD (I assume because it's so old or something).

Then I learned that you can download it freely from their website!

Awesomeness. When I got this game first, I had lots of trouble running it (it was so freakin' slow and took FOREVER to load maps). Now, I can put the number of bots on field on maximum and have the MOST EPIC battles. So totally badass.

I used to do the same thing when I got a newer PC a while back. All the graphics on the highest settings and max bots. The textures in that game were really amazing, and still are even though it's so old.

Battlefield Vietnam was great because it added so much vegetation for you to crawl through. I highly recommend that one too.

I don't think any of the newer Battlefield games compare at all to those two in terms of gameplay and interestingness.

I heard really good things about Battlefield 2, but I only ever played the demo I believe. It was also pretty cool.

I'll have to check it out. Also, there is some free to play online Battlefield game I might check out later: https://free.origin.com/shooter/battlefield-play4free

Btw you can log into "Origin" with your EA account. Origin is to Xfinity as EA is to Comcast. Just another stupid name for the same thing. You have to download some client, but you can set it to only start when you launch the game.
edit:
So I checked it out, and it sucks ASS. Legitimately. I played for 30 seconds and decided it was the worst game I ever played.

Origin is to EA as Steam is to Valve.

BF1942 was a lot of fun. I was quite sad when I lost my CD keys for it. I didn't have the opportunity to enjoy BF:V much though, by the time I got the game there were no more than 10 servers still running in NA.

It's still fun even if you're only playing with the AI.

No, it seems cool, though.

Btw dudes, I played online in BF1942 yesterday, and it was AMAZING. 64 player battles....holy shit. Omaha beach was intense. The only thing I hated was the server's autobalance. It kept on putting me on the opposing team randomly, at times when I really hated.

But overall, it was still totally badass.

That sounds pretty cool. Are there still servers to choose from even after all this time?

Several. No problem finding a 64-player game.

Though I think these might be specific to the free download version. It says, regarding whether or not one can play with people with the disc-based version:
"Unfortunately, no. This Origin digital download version can only be played against other players who are using the same version. But since it’s free for everyone, everyone can download their own copy of the game. This version of the game will only show applicable (new) servers in the server browser."
